rapid_f1 Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Hi all, has anyone created a facebook account for their school? Ive just about to create one and it says "Facebook profiles are meant to represent a single individual. Organizations of any type are not permitted to maintain an account under the name of their organization. We have created Facebook Pages to allow organizations to have a presence on Facebook. These Pages are distinct presences, separate from user profiles, and optimized for an organization's needs to communicate, distribute information/content, engage their fans, and capture new audiences virally through their fan's recommendations to their friends. Facebook Pages are designed to be a media rich, valuable presence for any artist, business or brand." Are we not allowed to create one for schools?
webman Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 You should make a Page for the school, not a Profile. You need to do this using an existing personal profile, but don't worry - the two are not publicly linked.
DaveMurphy Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 You should be able to create a Facebook Page with this link.. Seite erstellen | Facebook Local Business > Education
rapid_f1 Posted July 22, 2010 Author Posted July 22, 2010 thanks for the responses, being a facebook virgin i found it slighly confusing. Created a personal account (which i doubt i will ever use ) and then created a school page. Stupid thing is Birmngham City Council block facebook in school so only viewable soutsde.
DaveMurphy Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 I think Facebook allow you to set Twitter up also via the page.. so when you update Facebook it automatically updates Twitter.. Something quite useful!

Or you can have Facebook update when you update Twitter Totally by accident, I've also discovered that TweetDeck allows you to post to your page, profile, twitter (and whatever else you may have linked to it) all in one go.
