farquea Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 I have 5 servers that i was not given the correct local admin password for. I logged on with a domain admin account hoping to just right click on "My Computer" then "Manage" and go to the "Local Users and Groups" tab and reset the local admin password that way. However when i do the Local Users tab is missing, It's there when i log on locally onto other servers which the password does work on so it must be some sort of network policy removing it. Can anyone help and tell me where i can find the policy setting to disable this? Or any other suggested ideas to fix this??
Mcshammer_dj Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 if they are domain controllers then you will not have a local administrator!
farquea Posted July 21, 2010 Author Posted July 21, 2010 ah right that helps then in a way, we are migrating 1 of our dc's to a new server and was hoping to be able to log on locally and check a few things over before plugging into the network.
3s-gtech Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 When you dcpromo and demote it, the local account will be recreated.
