djones Posted July 19, 2010 Author Posted July 19, 2010 Wow, that was quick! Thanks but I've discovered a little stumbling block - the History is not being saved! In the History view, I can see 'Today' and the listed sites from this session; 'This week', 'Last Week', etc - but without any URLs. Poo! Anyone know why this might be - I don't think I've got a GPO preventing saving (I do have a GPO that prevents users from deleting their History).
kmount Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 Where are you looking? I didn't let browsing history roam with my users so I used our auditing to identify the local machine they were using and dug through the cached profile.
djones Posted July 19, 2010 Author Posted July 19, 2010 That's the thing. I've logged on as the user and can't see any URLs in the History section of IE8. I've also trawled through the cached profile and although I can see a hidden History folder, I can't open it - double clicking does nothing.
djones Posted July 19, 2010 Author Posted July 19, 2010 I would have thought that even if I have History etc set not to roam (which I have a sneaky suspicion is the case), I would still be able to browse via the cached profile on the local machine - which doesn't appear to be the case. ??
kmount Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 You should point the tool at the history folder not try and go into it. 1
djones Posted July 20, 2010 Author Posted July 20, 2010 Thanks, that has worked. Only thing now is that I'm wondering whether it would be better to keep the History roaming with the profile? Is it possible (I haven't checked myself) to just have the History roaming and everything else like Temp Internet Files stay local? What does everyone else do in terms of this?
