Im trying to use DBAN to wipe a load of old HDDs. I boot from a USB stick and do through the interactive mode, select the drive and start.

It then lists 2 non fatal errors -

ERROR - /dev/sdb (process crash)

ERROR - /dev/sda (process crash)

It then just says hold power butto to shutdown.

Ive made sure there are no usb hubs etc connected and the HDD is IDE.

Could anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks

do you need to do it from a USB drive ? i used a bootable cd with no issues ?

Ive ran out of blank CDs :o lol

I've given up anyway, just going to drill holes through them as I have about 30 to wipe and they are taking over an hour each :(
