matt40k Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 SIMS 2010 Summer release is now avalible (along with FMS). It got released rather early I must say. Well done for Capita (Didn't managed to get them to bet on wheither it'll get re-released - shame could of done with the chocolate bar)
SteveB Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Installed the update on my test machine here, but a little disapointed that it looks that i'll have to get In Touch installed separately.
matt40k Posted July 9, 2010 Author Posted July 9, 2010 Indeed, You would hope for that £3k they would do it for you
matt40k Posted July 9, 2010 Author Posted July 9, 2010 not showing up on my SOLUS yet... Your LEA (local support unit) hasn't authorised it to you yet.
Gatt Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Don't think we have SLG, just SIMS and FMS as far as I know...
MattMitchell Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 It'll be interesting to see the changes in slg, certainly
vikpaw Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 resource #16948 on supportnet is for summer release notes i'll check if there's a separate slg update the only bit in the main notes = SIMS Learning Gateway 2 For information on the new version of SIMS Learning Gateway 2, please refer to the release notes that will be made available from our SOLUS website (http://www.capitaes.co.uk/solus) on product release. SIMS Options Offer This is the initial phase of the SIMS Options Offer process in SIMS. The first phase provides the ability to: define and maintain Options Offers. create associated courses and lists of choices. assign pupil/students to the appropriate offers for their National Curriculum Year groups and define the band structure for eventual import into Options 5.70 and Nova-T6. The second phase of the SIMS Options Offer process will enable pupil/students and their parents to select and approve Options Choices via a SIMS Learning Gateway web page. There is also a Student Choices page that can be used by class teachers to explain the choices to parents and to directly involve pupil/students in making the best possible Options choices for their future development. This process can be incorporated into parents’ evening or a specific Options consultation time can be arranged to discuss the possibilities. Once pupil/students have made their Options choices, the resulting selections can be imported into Options 5.70 to enable the generation of classes and the creation of an Options solution. Defining Options Offers enables the outlining of future course choices without using Nova-T6 at an early stage. This enables the timetabler to experiment with the structure of the future curriculum and timetable plan. This process can be carried out as many times as necessary until a satisfactory structure is achieved.
vikpaw Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 can't see any more slg notes apart from the april ones, though the release notes http://www.capitasolus.co.uk/releasenotes/platforms/Summer10RNa.pdf say all the manuals for slg are updated so there may be other changes listed in other docs or the roadmap.
Sivadam Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 (edited) Looks like they didn't manage to solve the problem of printing Year Timetables. It could not pick up all the sub-bands when we tested it. But at least they have listened to what we said and made sure the option is not there - we said it is best to be missing this routine rather than being present but not working properly! Both SIMS 7.132 and FMS 6.132 are working well. No problems yet! Edited July 12, 2010 by Sivadam
vikpaw Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 i'm interested in feedback from anyone testing it out especially with FMS and fees, as our team will leave at the end of this week and then testing it will be impossible.
creese Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 No sign of System Manager 7 though.... Spring 2011, according to the Roadmap
timzim Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Not the first time it's been on the roadmap though IIRC
creese Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 It's the Capita Unicorn, it would be really great to see but it's not real.
Sivadam Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 It's the Capita Unicorn, it would be really great to see but it's not real. Maybe if the DfE and the exam Boards stopped messing with the Exam Structures we could have EO7. Then they WOULD be able to look at System7. I doubt it will happen befor,e as much of the resource money for a System7 project would be wasted!
creese Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Different teams though. They don't do much crossover, if any.
Sivadam Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Different teams though. They don't do much crossover, if any. Yep, I know that, but what I posted above did not originate from me ........
AyatollahPies Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 No sign of System Manager 7 though.... Phil Neal said he wouldn't get up and speak at next years SIMS conference if they hadn't sorted System Manager 7.
Sivadam Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Phil Neal said he wouldn't get up and speak at next years SIMS conference if they hadn't sorted System Manager 7. Doesn't stop him delivering his presentation sat down though!
