I am at the final stages of placing a NAS box in a nearby school for our offsite backups but have hit a bit of a legality problem.

Well the problem is I have no agreement with school in question and I have been asked to knock one up.

Now I'm no lawyer so habve no clue. Does anybody know if there are any generic agreements out there for this sort of thing?

Has anybody else done this?

thanks

Assuming it's a reciprocal agreement, you should ask LEA legal to include something re:

expectations of each party,

notifications of work that may interrupt backup schedules etc.

ensure data is encrypted on the nas and physical access wouldn't allow the other school to access the backups

right to access

backup power

etc

Basically, treat this as you would a co-location provider.
