ba9ag Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 We are about to put in our first Windows 7 / Server 2008 domain system over the summer. Whilst we have pretty much refined the 2008/XP combo does anyone have any additional policies they can recommend that are only available in Windows 7 that we should be looking at. Ive read the sticky at the top and noted the useful tips in their so far. Thanks in advance.
featured_spectre Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 It is set how you want it, different people have different GPO's and I would be surprised if anyone had the same / very similar. We may all have similar ideas but we each have different methods, some will use scripts to do what they need, others will use GPO's. Best advice is to go through each policy with a fine tooth comb and decide with your bosses what is needed and work to that. If it needs tweaking later on then so be it.
DriftGrant Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 different people have different GPO's and I would be surprised if anyone had the same / very similar. We may all have similar ideas but we each have different methods Even in the same company! As I will do something one way and the boss would do it another, both achieve the same result though. so ba9ag do which ever works best for you for your requirements of your specification
burgemaster Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 I think he means anything new to look out for: 1) theres library configuration via GPO 2) you can setup mutliple password policies for different users 3) lots of new policies to play with.... 4) dont use GPO to restrict the "Personalisation" bitlet in the control panel or you get an interesting "EXPLORER.EXE Unknown ERROR" popup on login Good luck
