if you were asked for your ideas on how you would make the IT provision at a school/college (with no prior knowledge of their setup) what sort of things would you mention?

This sounds like a job interview question :)

 

My opinion of outstanding IT is when it allows users to achieve what they need to do more effectively, more efficiently and quicker than it would take them without IT. I think "First time every time" is also a key factor, as well as being consistently reliable. Ideally, users expecting it to work should be the norm, and not the exception.

 

Outstanding isn't all about pushing the boundaries and being at the cutting edge of all the latest software and hardware; unless of course there's a very good reason to do so :)
