I know this is totally of topic.... We have booked a holiday and requested holidays from the school and the school has rejected this request and said its not authorised because he has already had time of during the year but that was due to ill health.

Its the childs last year of primary school and he has got into King Edwards grammar school and we thought it would be a nice treat.

I'm just wondering if we take him on holiday, what would the school do, will they call social services report us to the LEA. Will it affect his school place.

Help please what should i do?

before anyone says you're not supposed to take kids out of school from holidays I am aware of that however have you seen the cost of flights these days they've gone up!

It will go down as an unauthorised absence and will be flagged up when the Welfare Officer calls but I doubt they will lose any sleep over it. If I were you, I would write to the Head explaining that you had booked the holiday and it's the only time you can get off (I take it you don't work at said school?) Maybe point out that your son has been ill and you thought a holiday would help him to fully recover before starting at King Edwards.

They'll mark it as unauthorised and be a bit grumpy with you unless there's other circumstances that flag cause for concern.

The grammar school controls and offers the place, it's nothing to do with the primary.

Maybe a middle ground option where your kid takes some work with him to do?
