Fog newbie here been trying it out for the first time this week.

Was working fine on 0.28

Did the upgrade to 0.29 and now all the the Hosts I had the client files installed on have a red exclamation mark and Hostname not found error.

Also when I install the client files on a new host it will not show up in the Fog All current Hosts list.

Whats going on and how do I fix it?

I believe you also need to roll out an updated client - I don't use this part of the system so haven't tried this. From their page:

The client service has been modified, so all client modules should be updated on clients running a previous version of FOG, this can be done with the client updater service module.

Have you done this?

Its still not working - I think I may have a partial 0.29 install. Now trying to find out how to uninstall.

Done the reinstall still not working. Now reading the manual

It was a DNS problem. I could ping ip adresses but not hostnames. In the end I set up a DHCP reservation and assigned the ip address by DHCP. A quick reboot and my red exclamation marks have gone.

Could you let us know what you had to do as I am having the same issue exactly?

thanks

Right! Now updated to 0.29 and I now have the same problem, any suggestions as I do not have a domain on my setup, no server (pxe is from the FOG PC) and no Windows server with DHCP, thats on the FOG PC as well. I need simplistic instructions as a little new to Ubuntu etc

Problems with which bit?

Sorry, heat getting to me! I now have red circles with an asterix in at the side of all my host names. Seems to be working though as its uploading an image at the moment. Ubuntu also seems to havbe a problem as it now goes into a screen save and semi-crashes. Can't see whats happening as the screen goes blank and every so often it flashes and I can see a bit of text on the screen. Upload of image is still going on from what I can see on the client though! Red circles are my main issue though.

See my post #8 above.

You just need to log in to your fog's linux box and edit the /etc/resolv.conf file. Your fog doesn't know how to resolve the host names.

But I don't have a domain, unless one is set on the fog pc and I don't know it. It's basically a pc with fog on it connected to a router with the pc to be image etc also connected to the router/switch. Any suggestions what I should put instead of domain?
