barmybarmy Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 This wont work for Sky News, this uses a purely BBC driven system, im not aware of Sky doing something similar, they may do but im not aware of it. Thanks for the quick reply how about open automatically in full screen?
JRowley Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 I never figured out full screen, its not something that you can change i dont think, there is a remote config file that you might be able to download and fiddle around with but when i looked at it there different appear to be anything obvious when it comes to hiding controls, full screen etc, you can quite easily adjust the size of the picture by changing the values in the script however.
pjm Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 wow this script is spot on. One thing I would like to lknow is it possible to remove the controls at the bottom? I have another script that does only the news headlines and I can remove the controls Hi, The code is fantastic but I also wanted to remove the player, the easiest way I found was to put the link to the HTML file in an iFrame, then using the sizing within the HTML code and the iFrame size you can mask the controls. 1
sircodemonkey Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Hi, this is amazing and what i've been looking for, thanks guys. I have one question, is there a way to disable the volume of the player?
pjm Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Hi, this is amazing and what i've been looking for, thanks guys. I have one question, is there a way to disable the volume of the player? Not too sure how you would actually remove the audio from the code, had a quick look and not obvious to me, we use the live streaming and as it is a news channel require the audio to be ON, not too sure why you would want the audio off ???. If you are feeding a screen via VGA then of course the audio is separate via the 3.5mm jack, if it is fed via HDMI then can you not just mute via the OS built in audio controls ??? without knowing exactly what you are trying to achieve it is hard to know how to help, more info if possible.

Hope this helps many thanks for this, still working in 2013 Any other channels that can now be added??
JRowley Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 Unfortunately its a BBC service so I'm unable to add channels, you can go here to view which channels are available, though they don't appear to have changed from the ones I listed in the original post. BBC Live Streams Glad to hear its still working
NerdPanda991 Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Sorry to bring this thread up again but I have been trying to get the code to work so I can have BBC New 24 playing on a smart screen I am developing in C#. BBC Live Streams works without fail, I have copied the code directly from that website and the code submitted to the edugeek site and each time it fails to work, the code from this site gets further as the JavaScript loads however, I am left with a spinning circle as though it is attempting to load the stream but never does. I was hoping that you might be able to tell me if I am doing something wrong? My idea was to make a HTML page with the code written into it and then use the Web Control to load the video. When I run it in the program and in IE directly it doesn't work. Below is the code that I am using in the HTML page, any help would be greatly appreciated. "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> < html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> < head> < meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;charset=utf-8" /> < title>BBC Live Streams < script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.bbc.co.uk/emp/swfobject.js"> < script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.bbc.co.uk/emp/embed.js"> < !-- please do not include any scripts below this line in public bbc.co.uk pages. --> < link type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" href="SyntaxHighlighter.css" /> < link href="style.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="all" /> < script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.bbc.co.uk/cs/jst/mod/1/jst_core.v1.2.js"> < script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.bbc.co.uk/emp/simulcast/shCore.js"> < script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.bbc.co.uk/emp/simulcast/shBrushJScript.js"> < script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.bbc.co.uk/emp/simulcast/prototype.js"> < script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.bbc.co.uk/emp/simulcast/scriptaculous.js?load=effects"> < /head> < body> < div id="emp1" class="player" style="float:left"> < p>In order to see this content you need to have both Javascript enabled and Flash installed. JRowley Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 I must confess, while I am quite versed in C# I have never really developed any web applications using it. When you say you try this page in IE and it doesn't work, what is the result?
NerdPanda991 Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Thank you so much for your fast response. However after I gutted the HTML code down to it's basics and it seems to be working. "[url]http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd[/url]"> BBC Live Streams BBC New 24 content has not loaded correctly <br /> var emp = new embeddedMedia.Player();<br /> emp.setDomId('emp1');<br /> emp.setWidth('885');<br /> emp.setHeight('580');<br /> emp.setPlaylist('http://www.bbc.co.uk/emp/simulcast/bbc_news24.xml');<br /> emp.setConfig('http://www.bbc.co.uk/emp/simulcast/config_bbc_news24.xml');<br /> emp.set('config_settings_autoPlay','true');<br /> emp.write();<br /> Oddly enough it only works in the c# Web Control and still fails in IE. I think that it has something to do with the Smoothwall. Either way this is working nicely now. 1
JRowley Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 It ended up being nice and neat! I never really bothered trying to trim the fat, but you've done an excellent job of it.
Arthur Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 When I run it in IE directly it doesn't work. My version works in IE should you need it (it's based on the code I posted in this thread). http://i.imgur.com/4uJjJjm.png BBC Live Streams <br /> body { margin: 0px 0px 0px 0px; }<br /> src="http://www.bbc.co.uk/emp/10player.swf" width="832" height="503" style="display: block !important;" id="bbc_emp_embed_emp1" name="bbc_emp_embed_emp1" bgcolor="#000000" quality="high" wmode="direct" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" flashvars="embedReferer=&embedPageUrl=http://www.bbc.co.uk/emp/simulcast/&domId=emp1&config_settings_autoPlay=true&playlist=http://www.bbc.co.uk/emp/simulcast/bbc_news24.xml&config=http://www.bbc.co.uk/emp/simulcast/config_bbc_news24.xml">
barmybarmy Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 Has this stopped working?? anyone know how to fix it?
barmybarmy Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 Fairm010 did you have any luck getting this working?
fairm010 Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 I haven't tried fixing it yet. I assume the BBC have changed something as this worked for us for months on end. I'll have a play with the code later.
Nibiru Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 The streams on the original page have all been removed - in fact the entire page has been taken down, you just get the BBC error page now.
barmybarmy Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 The streams on the original page have all been removed - in fact the entire page has been taken down, you just get the BBC error page now. Do you think they just moved the files/pages?
Nibiru Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 At a guess they have been taken down as they were being used for illegal restreaming on dodgy foreign iptv sites.
Arthur Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 I wonder if it's possible to embed the live streams on iPlayer? www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/live/bbcnews
