Hi

Im building a new brand new domain and i was wondering if it was hust a simple case of taking the SIMS server of the existing domain and putting it on the one? Its only a member server after all.

Thanks

That should be fine, so long as all the other links work, and nothing has changed in terms of IPs, shares, sharenames etc. SIMS can run independently on it's own workgroup server with only a local client if you want.

The one thing to test is what accounts do your services run as, namely the SQL services. I've had problems with that before, so it's worth checking, in case they are running as a domain account from a domain that no longer exists, i don't know what would happen.

If you are running both domains at once and there is trust ( i use that term broadly, as i've never worked in a fully working multi-domain environment ) then it should be ok.
