K.C.Leblanc Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 Hi guys, at the moment we disable systray for students. However I'm going to have to enable it because we're going to implement Papercut. How do I disable Sophos's tray icon?
Guest TheLibrarian Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 Make sure that the pupils are not part of the SophosAdministrator group on the client PC's. We do this using the Restricted Groups part of Group Policy.
Michael Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 I agree if they're not part of any Sophos groups they shouldn't be able to do anything which can affect Sophos.
Tricky_Dicky Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 Hi, Why do you need to re-enable it for Papercut? The information for papercut is in a window in the top corner of the screen by default and if the kids minimize it without checking they have enough to print it won't do any harm to yourself. Rich
K.C.Leblanc Posted May 25, 2010 Author Posted May 25, 2010 (edited) Hi Why do you want to disable the sophos icon. Richard Because simple things amuse tiny minds. Less stuff to fiddle with the better, at the moment we have the whole sys tray disabled. However this prevents Papercut giving messages to the client so this has to change, I'd also like to have windows volume control as well. The only other option for papercut messenging is the enable the messenger service, which I really want to avoid. Hi, Why do you need to re-enable it for Papercut? Rich This only displays their credit, it doesn't give them an explanation for denied prints. Edited May 25, 2010 by K.C.Leblanc
Tricky_Dicky Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 We have the entire tray disabled for exactly the same reason but Papercut still runs fine. If they minimize the main windows it just dissapears which is no bad thing. Don't forget to disable the bit that allows people to transfer balances to each other (some clever kids figured that one out quick sharp) Rich
