SimpleSi Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 Has anyone seen/used a machine which has passed its grace period for activation? And if so - what actually happens? (Apart from the sound of an incoming IBM from Seattle landing on top of your house ) regards Simon
Norphy Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 Assuming it's the same as XP Pro (and I'd be surprised if it it isn't), it gets to the welcome screen. You try to log on, it says that windows needs to be activated and gives you the standard activation program. You either activate it there and then or you cancel the program. If you cancel it it sends you back to the welcome screen.
OutToLunch Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 ... or you start in Safe Mode With Command Prompt & networking, manually run Explorer and carry on camping
StewartKnight Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 I assume you mean an ICBM, not an IBM, otherwise, I want a free computer from Seattle as well!

My server at home a while ago, I had all set up perfectly but forgot to activate it When I came to do it, I couldnt connect to MS to activate, probably because I had some network settings wrong, and it obviously wouldnt let me change those settings So I reformatted
