Migrating an existing Joomla Site to Edugeek Package

Hi,

 

I tried to search for this but couldn't find any information. We have an existing school site built on Joomla 1.5 - how can use the Edugeek template on this site ? Is there a way to install only the template and modules we don't have rather than doing a fresh Joomla install? We would like to keep the existing menu structure and data that is already there.

To get the templates, what you need to do is unzip the Edugeek Joomla zip file that you have downloaded, then go into the templates folder and FTP the folders called axe_rescheek_blue, axe_rescheek_green, axe_rescheek_orange, axe_rescheek_red to your hosting and make sure they are in the templates folder. Once that is done, you will see them listed under Template Manager in the Administration area.

Thanks for the super fast reply Steve! Are there any additional modules / components I would need from the package to make the site fully functional?

You could compare the modules and components folders to see what is in which ones are in the Edugeek installation (not sure off the top of my head which ones included as extras). Then I am I think you should be able to FTP the folders for the modules/components that are extra up to your hosting.

Hi,

 

When I upgrade the template, the main menu doesn't show up - I think its a problem with our own structure because it doesn't properly show up on other templates as well but where would I go and change this? I have already taken the mod_mainmenu from the package and replaced it with the existing one but that didn't seem to make a difference.

Ok I got this - had to put it in a different module position than the original template! Thanks for the help!
