serif draw

Hey all

Dunno if im in the right area with this post but the DT dept have got serif draw 8 and displays the windows error message that you can send a report. It happens when you start from scratch, chosen your size of paper to work on. Ive changed the permissions to:

HKLM\Software\serif

HKCU\Sofware\serif

c:\program files\serif

c:\documents and settings

See the attached doc for the problem

If you login with the network admin its fine, but log in with a kids account which is locked down it throws up the message.

Hope someone can shead some light on it.

Maybe it is trying to put a temp file in a naughty place?

yeah i guessed that, but i need to know where it is lol

You need to run filemon to see what the file activity is.

have found the solution, thanks for the responses. I hae downloaded and ran the patch 8.0.3 from serif and this seemed to cure the problem

Even though you have found a solution to this, a similar error does pop up in later versions of the software which we have found relates to the user's profile (whether using roaming profiles or local).

 

The quick fix for this is the delete the user's profile completely from either the machine or server (depending on type of profile used). I personally believe this to be a problem with the software and that the actual software itself is poor.

 

 

PERSONAL OPINION ALERT!!

I would rather spend the extra few thousand pound and get an Adobe site-licensed package that has a wider user base than Serif and also has many more million pounds spent on it's development.
