Recognise this BBC Micro controlled CNC machine?

I've dug this old beast out of stores, along with the Beeb, monitor and drives:

It all works but the cable is missing.

But can anyone tell me which port it plugged into on the Beeb?

 

I'm hoping it was the user port so I can use something like this:

15 pins so it probably is the user port. Is this any help?

RS-232 tended to use 9- or 25-pin DB connectors.

Yeah, that's a DA15, so not an RS232. Used for joystick connection on a PC, IIRC. Try using analogue in on the BBC Micro.

I stand corrected RS232 was a round socket connect. The cable plugs into the user port

RS232 was a round socket connect

RS-232 is just a signalling protocol. It's been used (and, believe it or not, still is) in all manor of physical packages.

And FYI that round socket is a DIN

I meant the RS232 connection was a round socket connect on the back of the beeb
