[fog] IP Configuration and second hard drive

Just set up a FOG server

 

Ubuntu 9.10

 

Is this IP config right? So it broadcasts to the entire network

iface lo inet loopback
auto eth0
iface eth0 inet static
address 10.201.98.90
netmask 255.255.0.0
network 10.201.0.0
broadcast 10.201.0.255
gateway 10.201.98.254

 

(Our network uses the 10.201.x.x range, servers in 10.201.98.x range)

 

Also there is a second 320gb hard drive installed in the machine which is totally blank and not partitioned or anything, how could this be configured so FOG will use it to store images etc? (FOG is not installed yet)

Looking at those ranges it does appear to be correct. But I can't say for certain unless I had more information on your network =)

 

As far as adding a second hdd for fog it is very easy to do!

Got the extra storage up and running by mounting it as the Images directory!

 

Is it normal for a machine to take around 30 minutes to upload a 5.5gb image yet only take 5 minutes to download it back on to the same machine?!

yes this is entirely normal. Fog uses compression, so in the upload process it is shrinking the image and uploading it as it goes. The reverse takes less time to process. Glad to see you got it working properly.
