Broken Acer Connection

Hello again~!

 

I've actually got a problem with my personal laptop. The connection has gone where the power lead goes in. When you look at it it's clear to see that the metal inside (or whatever it is) has been worn away.

 

Does anyone know if I can replace this myself somehow, or if I'll need to send it in to be specially repaired?

often as not you can buy the bits from ebay just depends how good your soldering is usually

i had apart an extensa 5220 the other day, and replaced the female (the bit you are explaining is broken) charging slot, with ease. try to find a disassembly guide, that will indicate if you need solder to fix the problem, or if it is simply slot in components, either way, with a spare part purchase, it should not be too difficult

Yeah should not be too difficault, my parents laptop had to be sent off to Acer only got it back Wednesday (was aware for 6 weeks) and got it back and now the lid does not close properly.. so debating on weather to send it back lol!!

 

Noticed the power slots seem to have this kind of problem alot recently... so parts should be okay to get and shouldn't be too difficault..

I took apart a toshiba the other day as a PGCE student had pushed the whole connection into the body of the laptop - the part itself was just a simple slot in connection with a 4 pin connection to mobo.
