torledo Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Here's a thought - if we do somehow get through to 2015 with this coalition Government holding up, will people be able to vote for a continuation of the status quo? that's if the tories don't swallow up their minority partners in the meantime. It's going to be hard for the libdems to seperate the good that comes out of govt. as being exclusively libdem. Ofcourse if it all goes pear shaped then the voters may will see through the libdems as being two-faced 'harlots' LOL that later on tried to feign innocence....we'll just have to wait and see. people were deluded in thinking that some of the wackier libdem policies were feasible in real govt. and the modernisers in the libdems are probably relieved that they've had an excuse to not pursue them during parliament. nor was it true that there was really much difference between the libdems and their new 'progressive partners'. Or certainly not enough for the libdems to kick up a fuss and derail a coalition AND they certainly don't want to risk handing the keys to the ministerial jags back even with a move toward AV.
john Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Via Twitter - Even the tube staff agree cameron is a bad idea on Twitpic How sad is it that I can say thats in Tottenham Court Road Tube Station and I don't even live in London and I'm defo not in London at present?
PiqueABoo Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 (edited) 'Progressive' is headed for my never hear again list. And if they renew New Labour what will they call it? Perhaps I can get it in the list early.. I'm content because on balance I would much rather have a bunch of (recently proven and then some ) pragmatists in charge of anything significant. Plus, to an extent, the whacky ideas thing works both ways. But what about Gove, of whom I know little besides recalling how extremely irritatingly umm.. "teenage" a couple of his articles seemed before I stopped reading them sometime last decade. Has he grown up yet? Edited May 12, 2010 by PiqueABoo typo

"teenage" a couple of his articles seemed before I stopped reading them sometime last decade. Has he grown up yet? correct. the wacky ideas was a two-way street.....much scorn was heaped on the tories Inheritance tax threshold and the married tax break, and now those have been kicked into the long grass. in a way the coalition has kicked out a lot of the faff from both parties policy proposals. as for gove, i don't know. The tory party faithful seem to like his ideas but whether they work in practice... What worries me is that there will be spending cuts in other areas of govt. to pay for yet another big idea as far as education spend, as if we haven't had quite a few of those over the years. Mandleson is supposed to have said something along the lines of, they couldn't do business with the libdems because they just couldn't accomodate some 20bn of libdem spending.....if the tories by contrast are willing to accomdate, makes you wonder how big the squeeze on spend will have to be made elsewhere to make room. regardless, i'd prefer a pragmatic govt. rather than the spend now think never shower that was nulabour. and labour are already turning around to claim they are the only 'progressive' party left. LOL. Well whoever wants that kind of 'progressive' is welcome to them.
