Is anyone using this? If so what do you do about all the links to profiles, skydrives, instant messaging and generally fun stuff which we usually try to stop kids doing in school? And if they can make it read and write from other email accounts then what's the use of filtering their actual school account?

It looks wonderful, but what happens if you give kids all this stuff? Or can you hide it from them?

 

MS say London is all using it , what is the experience out there?

 

And if you use it for staff as well, do you let kids see the staff in the global address book? And if not, how not?

You can set yourself up with a test account on live@edu and I think that will answer most of your concerns. I'm still playing with it, but it looks like you can disable the stuff you don't want through custom templates and can set up rules for who they can send/receive to. We are looking at implementing SkyDrive as it looks a good way of being able to ban usb pen drives.

Haven't played with global address lists yet.

How did you set up the test account? When I looked a few months back, it seemed I only had the option to sign the school up for it blind...

Click on Enrol Your School, then click on Explore. This allows you to set up on a subdomain of your real domain.
