KWestos Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 What will happen when Conservatives get in (which they will will the help of Lib Dems) and the BSF programme. They stated in their manifesto that they will halt all programmes. Anyone heard anything?
timzim Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 They stated in their manifesto that they will halt all programmes Are you sure about that? Michael Gove (Shadow Children's Secretary....at the time of writing...) says they just want to spend less on it.
sparkeh Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 I believe a cut down version of BSF will still be going ahead, the Conservatives have never argued that something needs to be done on these lines. I remember some talk about concentrating on improving what is going on inside the building rather than the building itself, so we could see less flashy and expensive buildings going up.
KWestos Posted May 10, 2010 Author Posted May 10, 2010 Sparkeh is right! Conservatives will cut it right back, make good what can be done. In effect the BSF will be no more, just in another guise. The real issue is to do with the 'centralisation' of services, i.e. ICT. I remember listening to the radio recently where a minister was saying it just can't work. You have to take local social/economic factors into consideration, 'one cap does not fit all' approach!!
Rydra Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 So instead of Building Schools for the Future, it's now Burdening Schools for the Forseeable Future?
sparkeh Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 So instead of Building Schools for the Future, it's now Burdening Schools for the Forseeable Future? Or Boarding Schools of the Future
broc Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 BSF will continue for some time regardless of who comes to power, all the contracts that are already signed up are likely to continue. All parties are committed to continued investment in education, schools that are falling down will continue to be replaced, either with redundant factory units made empty by the cull on spending elsewhere or by building new build academies under PFI.....
