Hi, i resantly moved over to mandatory profiles and everything is great except for one thing. when i use windows explore to go to a certain file i cant get there if i type it in to the address bar but i can if i go there by clicking?

e.g.

if i was in

u:\users\200001

and i want to get to

u:\users\200002

you would normally just delete the 1 in the address bar and then type 2 and hit enter and go there but it doesnt?!?

so i have to click back load up all the users folders again and then click on the 200002 folder and it will let me go in!?!

any ideas?

Is this happening on just a single machine, or does this happen regardless of which compsuter you log onto the domain with?

I have just setup a script with a new share that wasnt hidden and i still had the same problem?? why did you ask any way?? just wondering as all of our network shares are hidden.

I just wondered if it would cause an issue when using a UNC path to a share that was hidden that's all. This obviously isn't the case if you have shares that are hideen, and working.

no the hidden share is on the root folder to the year group. the problem is when you just change the number in the address bar to access the new users home drive. if you do it by changing the folder name in the address bar you get that error message, but if you click the back button and then click on the folder it allows you in. the problem is that each year group holds about 20 folders so it takes about 10 seconds to bring the list up again before you can then browse to the folder that you want and then go in to it to find the work that you want to look at. It adds about another 30 seconds on to each piece you want to look at which when your doing large groups is a real pain.

i was wondering if it could be a GPO setting or something?? do you know of any config file that can stop you from doing this??
