High Speed Cameras

Hi all,

 

We've recently been given a small bit of funding due to some extra work and would like to buy a high speed camera.

 

Our budget is about 1K, and although I know top spec models are up to 10K, we certainly don't have the funds for that!! We are looking for ideally 1000fps, anything under 500 probably won't do what we want.

 

Does anyone know of any models or vendors that sell a mid spec high speed camera? Am I going to find something for this price?

 

I've been googling away and can find plenty of top spec for above budget and low spec at under budget but nothing in a nice happy medium! We're looking to capture, for example, chemical reactions and play them back to see all those brilliant bits the eye misses.... and yes we've been watching timewarp and invisible worlds!

I know it may seem a frivolous spend, but we did some work on an external project and the payment received is going into a spend of our choice! This was the choice of all involved.

I don't know if this is any use?

While you can do 1,000fps with a cheap Casio Exilim EX-FH100, the resolution and quality will be dreadful so don't bother with them.

 

Even cameras like the Red One can't do more than 120fps, so I'm not sure what to suggest.
