I'm having a problem that's driving me mad. For some reason the Office file associations have become mixed up and whenever a user tries to open a .docx, pptx or xlsx file it is set to open with the MS Office 2007 Open xml convertor instead of the correct office program. If I associate the extension with e.g. Word 2003 it opens, launches the convertor and opens it in Word rather than just converting and saving.

 

The problem is that I can't change the association for all users, usually if I want to change an association I change it in the network user profile and it's fixed for everyone this isn't working in this situation it seems to be reset at each logon.

 

Any suggestions?
