I want to watch the world cup in HD this summer, but not willing to pay the one-off cost for FreeSat HD as I don't feel it's worth it to get the same channels as freeview except the odd extra HD.

So I'm looking at getting Sky in with the HD box, but without the HD pack (£10 a month). I will subscribe to the variety and knowledge packs which totals £19 a month and a one-off £30 for setup/installation.

Sky says BBC and C4 are free to view HD as long as a subscription of some sort is held - but is ITV HD free to view as well or will I need the £10 a month HD pack with Sky to get this one?

All I want is BBC and ITV HD for the world cup!

I did some research into this when I had Sky HD. All the freeview HD channels are available from the planner.. except for ITV HD which is available as a 'red button on demand' style service. I did find instructions on avforums for how to manually add ITV HD as a channel - although it obviously wont have any content except at particular times.

Hope that makes sense!!

ITV HD I can confirm is free to air on Sky. Dissapointinly E4HD is not. But there will soon be channel 5 HD available too for CSI and The Mentalist :D

I have just got a £19 package, quality is excellent actually was really pleased.
