ZeroHour Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 It will probably only pop up at about 4-5pm on Thursday tbh. Thursday is the launch for VL and Redmond seems to put it live around 4-5pm our time.
jamesmay Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 thats no fun. never thought i'd be excited about new office!
AngryTechnician Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 (edited) Just spotted that the final version of the VAMT 2.0 tool went up on the Microsoft Downloads site yesterday: Volume Activation Management Tool (VAMT) 2.0 Irritatingly, it throws an error when trying to import my list of computers from VAMT 1.2 Edited April 27, 2010 by AngryTechnician
mrbios Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 Any idea when the Office 2010 Administrative templates will be available for download?
AngryTechnician Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 No idea, but if you need to get cracking you could try the Beta ones...
mrbios Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 whey, how keen am i, remoted into work to download it and add it to my image Is project 2010 included in it or is that seperate? as i don't see that yet

FN-GM Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 Im on the volume license site and it only shows 32 bit version. Where is the x64?
mrbios Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 Microsoft actually suggest using the 32bit version over the 64bit one even on windows 7 64bit i think, perhaps they gave up on it, or perhaps it's just buggy still?
AngryTechnician Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 They recommend it because so many people would find all their add-ins don't work, since almost no-one has compiled 64-bit add-ins yet except a few Microsoft Labs projects. The 64-bit version does exist (the Retail ISO is on TechNet), so I guess they are posting it later.
jc1875 Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 Any idea when the Office 2010 Administrative templates will be available for download? Office 2010 Administrative Template files (ADM, ADMX, ADML) and Office Customization Tool Released on 22nd April so I guess they're not the Beta ones?

The download link on that page takes me to the root of the download center so i assume there not finished yet
jc1875 Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 The download link on that page takes me to the root of the download center so i assume there not finished yet Doh. (not to self - read the page when posting a link) In the mean time i'm off to see how to disable the 'office updates' splash screen that seems to confuse users. (or at least find a setting to tell it to use our wsus - hopefully disabling the updates will allow wsus to kick in)

zag Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 Loving Outlook 2010. Does anyone know if you can assign mugshots of people on the server side? I've added all the portrait photos to my address book manually but it would be nice to get these working with exchange so everyone can see pretty pictures of the people they are emailing.
ZeroHour Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 Found it - Office Customization Tool - Features->Modify User Settings->Microsoft Office 2010->Miscellaneous->Suppress Recommended Settings Dialog. Do you have the non beta OCT? The links above are borked and I cant find OCT yet. Loving Outlook 2010. Does anyone know if you can assign mugshots of people on the server side? I've added all the portrait photos to my address book manually but it would be nice to get these working with exchange so everyone can see pretty pictures of the people they are emailing. I am not sure where it pulls from but its probably AD so I wonder if you added there pic to their AD account it might be shown.
AngryTechnician Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 (edited) You don't need to download the OCT, it's built-in. Just run setup.exe /admin from the VL install source. Loving Outlook 2010. Does anyone know if you can assign mugshots of people on the server side? Yes you can: GAL Photos in Exchange 2010 and Outlook 2010 Just tried it here, and have the first few uploaded now. Started with the Head since he will no doubt be chuffed that staff are treated his handsome visage every time he sends them an email. Edited April 29, 2010 by AngryTechnician Turns out the settings are NOT shared with Office 2007, so using those ADMX templates doesn't work 4
zag Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 what server versions are you running angrytechnician?
Gatt Posted April 28, 2010 Author Posted April 28, 2010 (edited) You don't need to download the OCT, it's built-in. Just run setup.exe /admin from the VL install source. Also worth noting that most of the GPO settings are exactly the same as the 2007 ones, so if you have the 2007 ADM/ADMX files, use those. jc1875 Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 (edited) Well it works what size of photo (dimensions) did you use? i tried 96x96 but it looks a bit small (but then it's only 3k) Edited April 28, 2010 by jc1875 typo
