[sccm 2007] Capture Failed

Me again

 

Can now deploy images Vista and & to my clients.

 

It is setup in my task sequence to format, deploy and Capture.

 

I have to questions.

 

Why do i have the option to build and capture - i thought as i was building a new machine, i don't understand the capture bit.

 

and second bit

 

 

can't see why my capture not working.

Build and capture is used to make a Tier 1 WIM image which is the base image that will be rolled out to everyone. It takes the base Windows OS, injects common apps, drivers, etc then it captures it as a WIM which you can then deploy, as you said you have done with Vista.

 

If a capture is not working it means it's hitting an error at some point. You need to enable the console so when the error occurs you press F8 to get a command prompt. Within c:\windows\system32\ccm are log files. Pretty sure the one with the days date in the file name has the error info.

 

Honestly SCCM is a beast which is great if you get it right but not fun getting there. If you're starting out http://www.windows-noob.com has some good procedures to follow.
