Compatible processor

a few of the old machines have gone down that the primary out reach use, they were donated to us/ Anyway a few proccessors seem to have fried, so just wondered, if a pentium D 925 will work on ECS 945P-M3 motherboard

 

now i know the slightly older ones do, the 920 and 930 but am unsure?

 

can anyone help, they are same socket and same fsb??

If the socket and fsb are the same then the odds are pretty much in your favour. Best thing to do is head over to ECS's web site (or the PC manufacturers) and see if there is a BIOS update available.

 

If there is any reason (not cpu features?) why it's not compatible, odds on there is a BIOS update to make it compatible. (may need to swap processors with working PC's in order to apply a BIOS update )

theres no bios update for the board, the cpu support list goes up to a 3.6 pentium d 960, but has no mention of any of the processors that end in the 5 as in the 925?? so im alittle stuck

Looks to me that the 925 is just a rebadging of a 930. If I were a betting man I'd say if the mobo supports the 930 then it also supports the 925, I think they are the same processor.

 

Could you afford to buy one as a test, if it works then buy the rest that you need?

another friend of mine has a spare 925, but has to post it etc, so wasnt going to bother if it wasnt going to work!!

 

if like you said its the same thing but it a differnt name that il try it, i think these dont support VT or something

yea no problem, there shouldnt be a reason why it wont work like we have said, but its not on the support list!! so just have to try!!
