BigRed Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 Hi there, Has anybody tried to deploy smart notebook 10.6 yet? Ive tried it using the Install Manager in the same way as previous versions to deploy this to workstations but I ran into a problem on the user side. It seems to crash if a "User" is the first person to run it. If I log in as admin and run it for the first time then its ok. has anybody else ran into this issue? because if i have to do this every time its kinda counter productive Any thoughts? Cheers
ricki Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 HI I am running tests at the moment and it appears ok but you have to remove the previous version before the install. Please note I have only one teacher testing it at the moment but she thinks it works great. Richard
BigRed Posted March 26, 2010 Author Posted March 26, 2010 cheers for the info I made sure i removed the previous version. And this happened on every machine in the school, so im not deploying anywhere else. Here are the conditions. -Previous version 9.7 removed through GP -Also a packaged install of essentials also removed through GP -Configured the .mst using Install manager but this time with Essentials as a shared resource -deployed via GP Problem occurs on all hardware. Client platform is Win XP SP3. Will be testing this in other schools also but with single machines from now on
ricki Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 HI Dont forget to remove the driver and put the new one on. Richard
sted Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 yup unles an admin has run it first it will crash for a user (on xp anyway dosent seem to affect 7x64) there is a reg file below that if you push to the workstations fixes the issue Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SMART Technologies\SMART Notebook Math Edition\Config] "AppLang"="0x0409,en_US" "HelpFile"="SMARTMT10.EN_US.CHM" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SMART Technologies\Notebook Software\Math Tools] "TrialEnabled"=dword:00000000
