No access to School domain

Morning everyone,

 

thought I would throw this one out there as it's baffling me here.

 

We have a webserver with hosted Moodle/Joomla/Wordpress installations.

 

From the webserver itself, you can access the internet with no restrictions. The only domain you cannot access is the school's domain.

 

Does anyone know if this could relate to PHP or MS SQL configuration? I ask because we've tested other possibilities and this is the last thing I can think of.

 

Any ideas would be welcome!

we had something similar with F-secure for exchange beeing a pain, tho it wouldnt let us see any websites at all, could be something similar. Edited March 24, 2010 by alunmjones

an example would be if your website address was Google and your internal domain name was google.com DNS sometimes gets its knickers in a twist as it tries to resolve the IP address to the local domain and not go externally.

 

I presume you are using a windows server (if not i apologise as i only know windows) try adding the IP address of the website into the host file of teh server. This has worked for us in the past as our LEA uses the same IP addressing that we do and the LEA website was being redirected to an internal IP.

 

Adding the IP to the host file fixed this for us
