Pupil to Staff Messaging

HELP!!!!!

 

Short notice request,

 

We have been asked to look for a solution to allow staff and pupils to communicate with each with via messaging/email.

But it has to meet certain critera

 

1) it must keep a log of all communication between pupils and staff for as long we need. Even if staff or pupil delete message the log of comms is kept.

 

2) It must run on windows 2003/win xp or even as asp that we can config and host on our servers

 

3) Cheap or Free

Big ask: 1 and 2 are achievable, IF you have sufficient storage to cope with logging every message (and you'll need lots)

 

However you won't get it free, I think or even cheap, unless you're a linux whizz.

messaging i tend to think of as realtime, whereas email is not, which are you looking for?

 

Openfire server with spark messaging client for realtime is great. Open source, free as in beer, and can run on a windows server no problem
