Wireless Problem

We have a bank of 60 laptops which perform reasonably well on our D-Link managed wireless system. The problem we find is that over the course of a week or two 6 or 7 will lose the tick in the box 'Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings', meaning, of course, they cannot log in. I put the tick back and all is fine. It's not the same laptops which have the problem and there is no 3rd party wireless adapter software on the laptops. Any idea why this may be happening? Can I force this choice through the policy? Laptops are Tosh Satellite Pro L300s and a vanilla XP/2003 network.

What wireless card do these use?

It's a Atheros AR5007EG, drivers dated 13/02/2009. I've discovered a later one so I'll try that and see how it goes.

Morning - we are still experiencing this problem at least 4 or 5 times a week. Any ideas? Thanks

have you installed the full driver client or just the drivers?

 

See if you can just install the driver files.... I have done this before with a different model of wireless card - saves space in the App tray too...

I'm also getting this problem and once I've logged in and put the tick back in place the netbooks work OK for a while until it happens again.

 

I've kept a log of which netbooks are effected and out of the 90 odd ones it can be anyone at anytime.

 

We are also using Toshiba's but a mixture of NB200's and NB300's but they all have Atheros AR9285 wireless network cards running the driver version 7.7.0.233 (13/02/2009)

 

I've just upgraded the drivers on 10 of my netbooks to the latest driver on Toshiba's website 7.7.0.406 (30/10/2009) and I will monitor these to see if they also have the same problem.
