Wireless controller + some APS

Hi, i have some acess points from diferrent manufactures (HP and smc)

 

I like to add another HP acess point HP ProCurve MSM422 WW Access Point and i like to put one wireless controller, i think on HP ProCurve MSM760 Access Controller

 

can i connect the other acess points like smc, and others to this acess controller? or just HP pro curve?

If you're using a managed system you have to use the same manufacturer's APs.

I am not an expert on this but do you mean a radius server as an access controller. If you are using a radius server as far as I know you can set this setting in the Access point so that when a computer tries to connect it will talk to the radius server to see if the computer and user can connect. and then if it is and the certificates are ok the access point will allow the computer to connect to the network.

 

If this is the setup I cannot see any reason why you cannot use different access points as long as they can be set up to authenticate with the radius server.

Not if you use a BlueSecure system from BlueSocket

 

To achieve a consistent feature set and best performance, it's best not to mix APs though and I don't think that the HP gear supports other manufacturers' kit.

So, you want a managed solution (or as ahuxham showed, a system which utilises 802.11r/IAPP). The HP controller would want to be the Mobility Controller, rather than the access controller, but it would only control the HP AP's, and only their 'HP ProCurve MultiService Mobility Access Points' also.
