Hi all,

We have Imail ver 7.07 installed on our win2003 server and it works great but have stared to get some issues with spam so what i want to know is what are my options.

I do know that i can get free spam filtering on a linux box

What do i need hardware software to setup such a box also the box might be asked to provide other services in the future ie web hosting etc.

Is there a free option that would run on win2003 server???

We cannot upgrade to lastest version of imail as it cost to much.

Thanks

Stuart

Hardware wise, it really depends on the load. How many email users are there and what sort of mail volumes do you get per day/hour/whatever? If it's pretty low volume with only a few tens of users you can probably manage on a low end 'soho' or 'branch office' server.

Software for mail filtering I'd recommed Exim and SpamAssassin. Also throw in ClamAV for antivirus. Should work on more or less any distro.

No problem, this is bread and butter for Linux. Apache2 + PHP + MySQL is the benchmark for this kind of work. What kind of websites were you considering? An Intranet? A VLE? Something else?
