Q&A Profiles

Hey all,

 

we using sims profiles, and iam trying to come up of a way for teacher to Q&A the reports. we free text so cant use the commet bank check and appove process. at the moment i have given acess to the head of subjects. in system manager of profiles operator so that they can see all of thier departmants reports and check them. the down side of this is that they can see and change everyones reports which is not a very good i know. i have had an idea of copying the profiles operator and removing the edit option so it just read only. but i cant seem to have just the read only option.

 

any help be very gateful for

If you put the Session into Review Mode then that is exactly what HODs, HOYs etc can do! It does take some getting used to though if you have never used it!

The class teacher can preview the report anyway.

 

It you are using Profiles7 without adequate training then you could come up with some major issue!

Think I am making any difference here to people's opinion of SIMS?

There appears to be slightly less disparaging threads appearing!

It sometimes feels that I have had 4 decades with SIMS and I would still never say I know SIMS inside and out - just a tad bit better than most users! I am still learning all the time - mostly from UAT etc. as well as from SupportNet colleagues.

 

By the way - I am modest too!

This is one area where having the SMT support is good (and thankfully we had it on this issue) saying that this is how you do it and the process you've got to do it, there's no other way. One person insisted that our SIMS admin person went through and printed each profile off for them to review on paper (really defeating the point) but we refused, told them how to do it if they really wanted to (having to go into each student one by one and printing them off) and that was that. I'm not sure what they did in the end, haven't been back to check the printer logs, but I know for a fact that we now don't print them off until they are complete.

 

Now the only problem is to convince them that now it's all stored on SIMS, we really don't need to print off 3 copies anymore but that's another issue....

Yeah im good thanks Mike, all is well at my new place, although my new place can be anywhere :-) which is a good thing.

 

I think your making a difference, somebody has to fight the battle for Sims, people are quick to blame things they don't understand Mike.
