We generally use WDS for desktops but we have a few netbooks now that don't like WDS (NVIDIA NICs) so i'm using Clonezilla, so far i've been using a USB drive to boot the netbook and then imaging to a share on a server. This has been working well and is sufficient for the few netbooks that we have but i'd like to be able to PXE boot Clonezilla rather than having to use a USB drive.

Can this be done?

Thanks.

XP? Is it the txtsetup bit or the main windows drivers? Im not sure if nvidea is icluded but have you tried here? RogueSpear's Forums • View topic - NIC Drivers for RIS/WDS - Last Updated 200711129

have you tried? clone zilla network version im sure it does pxe

Clonezilla (OpenSource clone system)

No I have seen that but I was hoping not to have to manage an extra load of software for such a small number of clients. As we already have a PXE server I was wondering if there was any way to use that, I seem to remember ghost and WDS working together.

I wonder if I could run DRBL in a VM?

I've tried all of the usual tricks but to no avail, it's the usual part where it fails due to missing or incompatiblem drivers, it connects to the WDS and creates an account in AD, lets you select an image but then fails when it gets to the loading an OS accross the network point.

Sounds like the txtsetup.sif bit. It is certainly possible to get it going. Ive done it before but i dont have any nvidia chipsets anymore to give it a test on our latest RIS image :(

Oh well if you remember then post it if not i'll use Clonezilla. There's quite a few posts online about new NVIDIA drivers not working with RIS/WDS unless you're using WinPE not sure they provide a RIS compatible driver anymore.
