reggiep Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 I'm still experimenting with our XIBO iinstall and I am trying to find some decent "extras" to embed in layouts. I have a weather one that looks pretty poor and would like to find a travel one to show towards the end of the day so staff can check the motorways before leaving. I have found that tomtom have an embeddable map but it doesn't give enough info so ideally something more like the bbc news traffic would be best. I know I can use RSS for the travel but pictures look nicer don't they!
TwoZeroAlpha Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 Might be worth looking at using some of the code out of a page like this Frixo - M1 Traffic Report | M1 North Delays | Travel News Updates Apart from that I've got sky news working, BBC optionally, and use BBC weather embeds for local weather info. 1
glennda Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 Ours is all done by the students, so i have only really played with displaying nagios, but i set up a java script webpage to auto update the datee automagically. Apart from that we only have a Powerpoint and BBC news Rss Feed
Crowmanuk Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 I do most of the stuff on ours, we've got 3 scrolling windows for news, daily bulletins and info on any groups that are going on, at the moment we've got bbc live running but its a bit hit and miss, sometimes it will work, other times we get the "this content cannot be displayed at this time" message, a restart of the xibo client usually gets it going. In my opinion the sky feed is more dependable even if it does repeat the headlines, there is a bbc rss feed at the bottom too. Never thought about using and automagic date thingy, I'll have a play with that on monday . I did look at some weather station stuff but we were running out of room at that point. Finding time to have a play with it is the big factor though, there just never seems to be enough of it.
glennda Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 if u pm me on monday while im at work ill send u the javascript page and you can play/edit it how you like toby 1
ianniow Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 We use Google Apps for email and calendar and so I have created a whole school calendar. Any member of staff can invite the "School Calendar" then I display this on Xibo. So it is always up to date.
