Hey all,

Got a request, does anyone know any companies/individuals who can create a specific database in a proper DB (SQL based, not access), that can pull data in from Sims .Net - have multiple security levels, create a front-end interface (web-based preferable) and have this database linked in with our VLE (possible). This db also needs to store a wide varity of doc's, conversations, other data, etc...

If you guys/gals knows, if you can let me know, that be great :)

You are looking at a SIMS partner to some extent. You can ask Richard Willis for help (or to suggest someone) or have a look at some of the partners they have out there such as TASCSoftware and Bromcom.

There are a few other folk around (IanT?) who might be able to help too. It will also help to specify the VLE too as sharepoint and Moodle will use the data differently and also different depending on hosted or local.

It might be worth looking at SIF as an option too.

Depending on your VLE choice a number have used the IMS link from SIMS. There's no additional charge and it takes minutes to set up. I know that Fronter have used it and pretty sure that there's a Moodle link too.

it depends on the kind of cash you are willing to spend. I could ask my friend and see how much he thinks it should cost

That's the thing, we don't know how much it'll cost. So we're looking around to see...

Failing that, might want to speek to twynham school, they are sharepoint guys but have made webparts for SIMS so have had to go into the database! so they may even be able to help you :)

re: salamandersoft / richard - bear in mind he is the right man for the job, but just got back from paternity leave so there may be a few days delay in response.
