Enrolling students with no email authentication in Moodle

The two higher years in our school have email addresses and have been put on the VLE using these as authentication.

However, the lower 2 years do NOT have email addresses. How can I put them on the VLE without it? I need step-by-step instructions please

 

The answer may well be on moodle.org but I keep hitting pages that SWGfL filter!

you could put fake email addresses in and disable them.

Do you import the users via a CSV file?

We could do it via a CSV file, yes. I didn't enrol the two top years so I am not quite sure what my boss did

We tried the fake email address thing but it didnt like it and still tried to authenticate using them
