Movind data from file server to sharepoint document library

Hi guys!

 

Is there a way of transferring data from a file server to sharepoint document library.

I have tried 'copy' and 'paste' but it brings up errors.

 

Whats the best way to do this (easiest and efficient) ->

Is there a tool that can do this for me?

In the document library, the Upload menu option gives the choice of uploading single or multiple documents.

You can also click Actions > Open with Windows Explorer, which will let you drag across into an Explorer window.

Alternatively if the documents in the file system are more for historical reference then you can just index the content on the file system so that it appears within Sharepoint search etc. (without then having to clog up Sharepoint with lots of unused content)
