Dom_ Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 So... we currently use active desktop for our wallpapers, which works nicely, but we're having to use IE6 for it to function. The powers that be have decided they want to upgrade to IE8, (which kills active desktop afaik). How do you all set your student backgrounds? I'm thinking BGinfo is the way to go, but want some alternatives Cheers, Dom
Dom_ Posted February 3, 2010 Author Posted February 3, 2010 Hmm, just found a reg key which allows me to use active desktop with IE 7/8 - HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Desktop\SafeMode\Components Change the value of DeskHtmlVersion to zero instead of decimal 272. However... it seems to be set back to 272 after about 2 seconds of logging on, so i see my active desktop background, but then it disappears to be replaced with the black screen with a little x :-(
denon101 Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 BGInfo, does all you need and JUST WORKS!! Which is just what I need, with all of the other stuff that can go worng!!!
