But they are dedicated leased lines and will suffer contention at the local exchanges. I've done a lot of research into this and if you want that kind of speed on a dedicated connection be prepared to pay 100K plus for it.

 

yes understand that what i meant was schools should be ahead of the game when it comes to stuff like this.

 

We should as schools should be on 10 meg connections way before home users start ctaching up with us why.

 

As schools we should be leading the technology and up till now we have schools first to gert isdn lines, first to get broadband connections etc.

 

So in theroy schools should be getting 10/20/30 meg connections way before home users are.

 

But problem is hoem user service is catching at significant rate...

 

But then i also see home users buying stuff when not needed most home user s dont need unless 2 meg connections unless they have few comps on it for example home network and do transfer a lot of bandwdith..

Please do not confuse what home users get in speed increases to what schools require in service and 'extras' (static IP's etc).

am aware of 'extras' that schools get...

 

am aware that these are two different services..

 

But we see that but teachers and students and other staff don't they compare.

 

Also by the by my new isp gives me one free static ip plus extra ones at 5 per month..

 

i think it depends on county to county as well i think what gets people is the inability in some county's to move away from rbc and tied in to it.

I don't know what level of service you get from your RBC, but if you are that unhappy and wish to move away then please be aware of the cost implecations and 'hidden' charges.

BTW What is so bad about your RBC?

no i dont but people have and yes you have to take everything into account but when funding is kept at source and you have to jump through hoops to do simplelist of things..

 

not saying all rbc are like that but lot are....

 

as for our rbc main problem is never learn from mistakes as seen from one complete failed portal project and no doing it all again with new portal project making same mistakes..

 

Anyway thats a story for anothier day...

Hmmm. We try to include all schools into our projects, and keep everyone informed about events. It sounds like poor management and communication to me.
