Same, I use stone, 4 year on site warranty, no questions asked, just gets replaced

Well i said in my post above we use stone. However we as a college actually provide ict support to other schools even though we ourselves buy and would 1000% recommend stone computers. No questions asked 4 years on site warranty. The machines are incredibly reliable as well.

Last 2 years only had 2 machines break out of 500!!!

I just have relevant maintenance on Dell servers and EMC storage box. I only use that for hardware replacements usually. Also obligatory MIS support.

Another one for Stone Computers here. Warranties range from 3 to 5 years and kit is fixed in no time at all. That's PCs, laptops and Servers.

We buy most of our kit through Misco and have three year warranties on everything.

all/most hardware (read stations, servers, laptops, projectors, whiteboards etc) from SLT (staffordshire learning technologies) who provide hardware support (repairs) and warranty support (they sort all warranty issues out without us having to get involved). all stations are RM and servers are RM with admin servers being viglin (same as RM then). this does make life easier for us.

 

as well as this we use them for network installs as they pretty much built the infrastructure so are very familar. i have looked at other companies but this seems a one stop shop, sometimes not as cheap as others, some times they are. just the easy solution

Most of the pc's and servers in my schools are Dell, I inherited the systems in all of them and I find that replacing them with dell works well. Their 3 year support package is excellent, if I have aproblem and phone it through I usually either have the replacment part I need the next day or an engineer coming out to the school. The computers seem to last with the abuse primary children put them through.

one we're obliged to use by the county council, one we tendered some time ago and chose the one we liked best and one is a local organisation we've known for a long long time.

old, out of warranty or ber (beyond economical repair) kit is either chucked (if one off and small) or put in storage til a good quantity of kit is their and then sent to be recycled (fixed up and sold/broken down for parts)

 

supprisingly hard to find some1 who will take old equipment away from you - afew years ago i found a guy who will do it for free so all cool
