Digital Cameras / You do not have permission to access this device

I have a pretty strict user policy for my pupils but on some PCs I've had to yield and enable the usb mass storage driver for use with digital cameras.

This has worked fine before but some cameras are now reporting "You do not have permission to access this device". This is on the same workstation one camera will work one won't?

They're both detected as cameras (camera icon) ones an Nikon ones a Canon.

any ideas?

we have some cameras like these i found that they were trying to be used as pc cameras not usb storage device hence the system saying you can not install the pc camera. as they do not have permmisions to install new hardware.

usually the cameras have a button to select pc camera mode or usb/pc mode

Do you have any driver letter restrictions?

USE DLM, is an excellent tool for making USB drive letter assignment more predictabled.

We've always gone down the card reader route, instead of issuing cables.
