can parent domain users log into a sub domain

Can members of parent domain log into a subdomain without changing the domain name at the login screen?

Which I don't think is what the OP is trying to get at. It sounds like you want to have the same details whatever domain the user is in so they don't have to remember anything more complicated than their password - I know, I've been there too. The only way around that is to merge your domains into one*.

 

 

*actually, you probably could do it with Federation Services, but this is dangerously complex.

Sadly a merger of domains is out of the question. any information or advice on federation services would be appreciated as i have never heard of let alone used this service.

yeah doesnt quite look like the solution im after. how did you resolve this issue when u had it, did you end up merging your domains?

No, I set dialog to show the domain option by default, and managed to get everybody to cope with it. Took a few weeks. Here we are one domain so we don't have the same problem.

cheers, looking like i may have to do the same and just get them to put up with what they got. never understood how it was so hard to remember an extra password in the 1st place.

It's not even like we make it hard, they have to look at a list of options and choose the one that they know if familiar...

these people are teachers tho, they call our office because there mouse is unplugged and they cant be asked to plug it back in themselves.

 

We do currently just use the drop down box and most of the time its fine but when the adminstration staff use a PC and use another domain and dont change it back they never know what to do, all they know is they cant log on. was just trying to make life simpler for them, it how they like it but they'll have to put up with what they got.
