Moving over to Virtual Servers etc during the summer. I need to plan what applications are to go on what hosts and virtual servers, so we have a clear plan for ourselves and any contractors that may be involved.

 

Is there a formal way of doing this or example documentation I can look at? Or is it a case of make it up the way I want it?

We did a recommended plan and frankly i just made it up. i found visio with pictures made it very clear.

That's pretty much what I was going to do but didn't want to get halfway to find that it should be done another way

i found doing two spearate ones.

 

1. physical infastructure

2. virtual infastructre

 

helped identify it very well..
