leco Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 A laptop is constantly synchronising - solid monitor in sys tray with pling. Message states "Offline Files - Offline changes not synchronised" Set it going synchronises but then solid monitor icon returns. Is there any way that I can find out what the machine is trying to synchronise?
SYNACK Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 (edited) XPs file sync is pretty bad, you will probably have to rebuild the database to get it going again as the DB is prone to corruption. Have you tried running a full rebuild of the offline files as this also kills the database which may be corrupted and causing your issue: http://www.rmschneider.com/writing/xp_tips.html#_Toc74881571 Not sure if more robust logging is avalible for it either. leco Posted January 26, 2010 Author Posted January 26, 2010 I have cleared the synchro cache on two ocassions - it just starts again. There are times when the machine is unusable for hours at a stretch because it's synch'ing so much.
SYNACK Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Ok, I would be tempted to use Process Monitor and check out where it is hanging up that way. You could also use wireshark but that is a roundabout way of doing it.
leco Posted January 26, 2010 Author Posted January 26, 2010 Thanks will have a go at Process Monitor to see what it comes up with. Thanks
