Smartboard 10.X - Writing on board

How do I make it so that you can write on the board without having to have the notepad open? I know you could do this in older versions but can I find the option in 10.X?!

 

Would appreciate any help on this one.

You mean you can't just pick up a pen and it automatically launch the acetate layer any more? There is a definite step backwards!

There must be an option to enable it somewhere. I just can't find it!

I didn't have a problem on the board I tested it - I just picked up a pen and was away. Are your drivers installed correctly?

An "Ink Layer" should become active when you pick up a pen - you should see a border appear around the "screen" with a red X to close it in the top right. If not, then your drivers are probably not installed properly... Or the Smart Tools aren't running (though usually installer places this in Startup folder).

I will have to have another look. There used to be a bar down the side of the screen but I don't see this either. Is that what you mean by Smart Tools? Thinking about it I may have only installed the software which would tally with what you are saying?

Yeah, sounds like you've just installed Notebook; this would explain the lack of toolbar (and presumably system tray icon) and why the pens don't work. Remember the drivers and application are two separate MSI files nowadays, needing two separate runs through the Install Manager.

Yep - once you install the drivers (the annoying tools down the side) on the machine you'll be able to pick up the pen and just write all over it!
