Crooked Smartboard screen

I am so happy to find this site! I just got a new mobile smartboard and set it up yesterday. The problem is that anything projecting onto the screen is a little crooked. It looks like the right side is bigger than the left. We switched out all the cords and even took the project light out and nothing worked. Any ideas or could it be a defective projector? Nothing on the computer is crooked, just the image on the board.

 

I am a classroom teacher and some of my kids can't concentrate on any part of the board except that it is crooked so it has to be fixed. Thanks

Also, it is aligned and I have no problem writing on it, it is just the background that is crooked.

Could be the keystone? Have you tried adjusting the settings?

If your using a mobile board with a mobile projector, its very tricky to get the projector and the screen at an 90 degree angle to each other and that causes one side to be "bigger" than the other (and other effects as well.

 

You just have to live with the imperfections I'm afraid.

I have installed over thousand smartboards in my time and I have never seen one with the issues that you describe.

 

Something doesn't seem right, it sounds like the projector lens is not perfectly aligned with the centre of the board.

 

If its not you will normally get one side of the board bigger then the other.

In an ideal world this is why a fixed projector/board is always better. A portable setup (unless it's all integrated) will give results like you describe.

The projector has to be square with the board, but also the right height. Chances are you've angled it using some books for example and this creates the image distortion.

 

As an experiment, try holding the projector high in the air; possibly full arms length depending how tall you are. The image should appear straight or nearly straight as if it were attached to the ceiling.
